On the 3rd Day of Christmas Creativity...

Happy 3rd Day of Christmas Creativity!  Today is Chris's turn to host.  I know she has something awesome over there for you.  Be sure to check it out!

Today I have a quickity-quick holiday idea for you.  Remember my Subway Art on a Shutter project I made for Thanksgiving?  I didn't want to put it away after all that work.  So, I turned it around and... instant Christmas Card Display!  I could put a little Christmas sentiment on it, but I kind of like it plain so the cards really stand out.

Okay, so want to win some stuff? Here's a recap in case you forgot:

Here are the prizes:

1) The whole set of 12 Days of Christmas Tags
2) $10 gift code to Sam & Hailey Designs
3) $10 Michaels Gift Card
4) The December VDBC Grab Bag (or a $7 gift code to Sam & Hailey Designs if you have already purchased it)

How can you win them? On the 12th Day (that will be the 23rd for our little blog-fest) I'll hold a drawing for each one of the prizes (that's four drawings in one day... I think I can handle it!). All you have to do to enter is comment on my blog to enter. You can comment on my blog on each of the 12 days so you'll have up to 12 entries in the drawings! Each day I'll have a new thing I'll ask you to include in your comment so keep an eye out for that. It's as simple as that!

Today's comment requirement:

Leave a comment and tell us how you like to display the holiday cards you get each year.  Then what do you do with them afterwards?

Be sure to include some way to contact you in case you win the drawing (for example, your VDBC forum name, your email address, etc.). If you don't, I might not be able to get your prize to you!

Time to get crafty, people!

Jan, you are just too clever with that shutter! I love that idea. I just line all the cards up on top of a bookcase (eye level) and after Christmas I bundle them up and save them for a year.

Love the idea, very clever.
I tried to get into the forum and it let me sign in, but when I tried to get to the page to get the download, it said I wasn't logged in :(
Any ideas?
Thanks see ya tomorrow.

We put our cards in a basket. We save them all---not sure why. I separate the picture ones and always plan to make a scrapbook page with them.

I have a metal christmas tree that hangs on the wall and is a card holder. (It has little hooks you slide the cards to hold them.) Love it. I can see all the cards throughout December. And most of the cards I receive are hand made so I have to keep them. I love the idea of doing a scrapbook with all the cards then I could set it out on the end table in the living room and everyone could continue to enjoy all the beautiful handmade cards every year. Thanks

This is what I am doing (I recently saw it on pinterest). You take a piece of ribbon and tape it to the top inside of the kitchen cabinet door then it comes on the outside of the door and then you tape it again on the inside of the bottom then using clothesline pins you clip your cards to the ribbon. I do like your shutter idea as well, but at my house with 3 boys I am sure it would get knocked over.

Love the double duty of your shutter! As for my cards, I do a variety of things. Sometimes I tape them up, but usually they go inside a santa tin pocket hanging that I have. I always hang on to them for a while after Christmas, but they just stack up after a while. SO I weed them out for embelishments and save the family photos for memories.

My cards get hung around the living room door frame so I can enjoy them throughout the holiday. After Christmas I take them down, look at them one last time, and then they go in the recycling bin.

I don't do much of anything with the few cards I do get. Usually save them for a while, but then haven't done anything with them. Great idea on the shutter card holder!

Cute idea Jan! We have a plastic canvas Santa that was made for Christmas cards and it is hanging on the wall near near the kitchen.

Using the shutter to display cards is great idea. I just use a christmas-y basket. After Christmas I keep the most meaningful and recycle the others.

WOW I love the shutter idea! I need to get me one. I have a card wreath I recently found at a garage sale and I'm using that this year. The ones that won't fit will be taped around a door for display.

I just stand them on top of our entertainment center.

I put mine in a wall hanging made just for cards.

We hang them over the door way with thin clothesline and glittered mini wooden clothespins! They sparkle and shine. Love that.
